Code of Practice

Course 2.0:  MTAA Code of Practice

Industry has a long association of working with healthcare professionals. The MTAA Code of Practice provides guidance on the medical technology industry's relationships with healthcare professionals and consumers. The MTAA Code of Practice (Edition 7) was adopted by Members in November 2011. The Code is self regulated by industry. Under the Code of Practice, there are specific obligations that need to be noted to ensure that member companies are compliant with the Code.

Three modules are available under this course.
2.1 Introduction to the Code of Practice
2.2 Complying with the Code of Practice
2.3 Advertising of Therapeutic Goods in Australia

It is a requirement of the MTAA Code of Practice that all member company staff engaged in direct interactions with healthcare professionals, or those involved in purchasing activities complete MTAA approved Code training. To meet this requirement, companies may:

  1. complete module 2.1 Introduction to the Code of Practice, available online
  2. develop in-house training on the MTAA Code of Practice that is submitted to MTAA for endorsement prior to delivery to company staff.
