Industry working with Healthcare Professionals

Course 3:  Working with Healthcare Professionals

Medical technology industry personnel often work closely with healthcare professionals. This requires a range of skills, knowledge and understanding that responds to the language of healthcare professionals and their work environments. In addition, medical company representatives as visitors to the perioperative environment are required to be trained in the 2010-2011 ACORN Standards for authorised admission (Standard 24). A range of modules reinforcing the skills required to work effectively with healthcare professionals are available.

Modules 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.7 and 3.8 are available through expressions of interest. Please click on 'Register Your Interest' and include with the module title your name, phone and email address. To view an interactive demonstration of the free online modules 3.1 and 3.2, please click here.

While adherence to the ACORN Standards by MCRs is not legislated in any state or territory, some individual healthcare facilities are demanding MCRs attend ACORN approved training for entry to the perioperative environment. Two training modules have been developed by MTAA and approved by ACORN to meet this need. Module 3.5 Introduction to Operating Theatre Protocols is offered face-to-face, while module 3.6 Operating Theatre Protocols Update for experienced MCRs is available online. To learn more about MTAA Operating Theatre Protocol training options, please click here.

The Anatomy and Physiology Series (modules 3.9-3.20) is available as self-paced online learning. Register for modules of interest by selecting the relevant link below, or the entire series.
