Michelle Somlyay is the CEO of the Catholic Negotiating Alliance (CNA) and the Executive Director of Funder Relations at St Vincent’s Health Australia. Michelle trained in nursing at Nambour General Hospital in the eighties and has over 20 years experience in healthcare across both the public and private sectors. Michelle’s clinical background is in critical care nursing. After completing her Nursing Masters in Critical Care she moved into the Clinical Costing arena as a clinical consultant. Michelle was responsible for implementing clinical costing systems across a number of tertiary level public hospitals in Queensland, as well as developing and maintaining decision support services across multiple public hospitals.   Michelle also has extensive commercial experience negotiating service level agreements across different parts of the public sector.

Michelle joined St Vincent’s Health Australia and then CNA in 2003. Since then, she has been predominantly involved in health funding across the private sector.  She is passionate about the Catholic health care sector and, as the CNA CEO, holds executive responsibility for CNA revenue, procurement and benchmarking activities. In addition to her Nursing Masters and Bachelor of Nursing degree, Michelle also holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Catholic Culture. She is a member of the Prostheses List Advisory Committee, DVA Pay for Performance Steering Committee and is Chair of the National Procedure Banding Committee.
