There Must be an Election in the Air?

Jody Fassina of Insight Strategy gives his thoughts on why an early federal election in
2018 is more likely than not.

"The 2017-18 Budget was certainly a significant one for health industry stakeholders, led by the pharmaceutical industry securing new and revised strategic agreements with government.

The Turnbull Government has sought to 'slay the demons' of the 2016 election where Labor's ‘Save Medicare’ campaign nearly cost it office.

Health minister Greg Hunt has worked assiduously with stakeholders to minimise health as a political ‘achilles heel' to help ensure the Turnbull government can go into the next election from a positon of strength rather than weakness.

This is why the 2017-18 Budget looks and feels like an election budget. The health policy announcements reflect this.
