Today is R U OK? Day - a time to check-in and ask "are you okay?" to a family member, friend or work colleague. By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you have noticed, you could help that individual open up.

Celebrating MedTech's Finest at the Industry Awards Night

Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming Australian MedTech Industry Awards on Thursday, 6 October 2022.

 

The evening is an opportunity to meet with fellow MTAA members in a relaxed environment as we recognise the outstanding individuals and organisations in MedTech.  Several awards will be announced including the prestigious Kerrin Rennie Award for excellence in medical technology. Tickets include 3-course dinner with beverages.

Showcase your MedTech Story at MedTech22

MTAA is encouraging members to participate in MedTech Stories - a 30-second video segment on how organisations, people and technology are helping Australians live healthier lives.

 

The segment will showcase how medical devices/technology have improved or saved the life of a patient and how MedTech organisations give back to the community through foundations and initiatives.

 

Your video will be broadcast in front of an engaged audience at the MedTech22 Annual Conference and published on MTAA's media platforms.

Regulatory Affairs for Medical Devices Workshop in Melbourne

MTAA has organised a two-day workshop on Regulatory Affairs for Medical Devices Workshop in Melbourne from 25-26 August 2022. Based on the successful Sydney workshop held 2 weeks ago, this training course will provide detailed coverage of the medical device regulations in Australia. 

 

Date: Thursday, 27 October to Friday, 28 October 2022.

CTCM Round 2 Expressions of Interest Open on 9 September 2022

MTPConnect, in collaboration with MTAA and industry partners, will soon open its second and final funding round in the $19.75 million CTCM Program, calling for applications from Australian small to medium-sized enterprises developing home-grown medical devices.

 

The CTCM Program can provide $250,000 to $1.5 million in funding to SMEs to support early clinical development of medical devices with commercial potential.

 

Funding opens this Friday, 9 September 2022.

MTAA Welcomes Toby Hodgson - Digital Health Senior Manager

MTAA is pleased to welcome Toby Hodgson as the Digital Health Senior Manager.

 

Toby is responsible for driving advocacy for Digital Health on behalf of MTAA members and providing support for MTAA Digital Health initiatives. This includes support for the MTAA Connected Health Care Advisory Group (CHAG) in developing and advocating for policy positions related to Digital Health.

Medical Device Waste: Who is Responsible?

Australia is part of the worldwide healthcare community, with medical devices providing a platform for healthcare delivery. The medical device community faces challenges not only in the environmentally responsible production of medical devices but also in the lifecycle of those devices, including disposal of medical device waste.

 

Gordon Stenning, MTAA Honorary Member, takes a look at what practices of medical waste disposal are currently in use in Australia, to assist members of the MTAA and their customers in the responsible disposal of medical device product waste. This article has been recently updated.

Webinar: Strategic Roadmap for the Growth of Australia's Non-Animal Capabilities in Preclinical Development

Members are invited to attend a webinar hosted by the CSIRO Futures team to inform the development of a strategic roadmap for the growth of Australia’s non-animal model capabilities in preclinical development. This webinar will include two presentations on: 

  • An introduction to the value of non-animal models for preclinical research; and
  • an overview of the proposed project scope and sponsorship options.

CSIRO is inviting government, industry and research stakeholders to sponsor this project, which will ensure their organisation has a seat at the table when it comes to scoping, consultation, and review.
