Value Based Procurement | Global Developments and Australia's Next Steps

5:00pm Tuesday, 1 December 2026
6:00pm Tuesday, 1 December 2026
MedTech Livestream

As healthcare systems face increasing demand, workforce pressures and budget constraints, there is growing interest in procurement approaches that look beyond product price alone to consider patient outcomes, pathway efficiency and total cost of care.

Join MTAA and international value-based procurement expert Brian Mangan, CEO of Luach Consulting Group and former NHS Supply Chain value-based procurement leader, for an insightful discussion on the latest developments emerging from the United Kingdom's NHS and their relevance to the Australian healthcare market.

The webinar will explore the foundations of Value-Based Procurement (VBP), recent NHS initiatives and lessons from implementation, while also examining Australia's own VBP journey.

Participants will gain a practical understanding of how health systems are defining and measuring value, how procurement decisions are increasingly considering outcomes across the patient pathway, and what MedTech companies can do to better articulate, evidence and demonstrate value to healthcare customers.

Brian Mangan, Founder & CEO,  Luach Consulting Group

Brian is a recognised expert in Value-Based Procurement and healthcare procurement, with more than 20 years’ experience across the NHS and international healthcare markets. As the architect of the first at-scale Value-Based Procurement programme across the English NHS, delivered through NHS Supply Chain, he brings first-hand experience of how value-based approaches can be embedded into real-world procurement. Brian has presented and consulted across the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Portugal, Slovenia, and further afield, and works with clients ranging from SMEs entering the NHS market to commercial teams at some of the world’s largest medtech organisations. For MTAA members, Brian offers a valuable buyer-side perspective on how health systems assess value, build procurement business cases and translate clinical, economic and patient outcomes into purchasing decisions. His international experience working with medtech companies and health systems also provides practical lessons for suppliers navigating the shift from traditional price-based procurement toward value and outcomes-based models.
