With sustainability expectations growing across healthcare procurement, regulatory frameworks and corporate reporting, MedTech companies are under increasing pressure to communicate environmental commitments accurately and transparently.
For many MTAA members, understanding what constitutes greenwashing, how sustainability claims may be scrutinised, and what practical steps can be taken to strengthen sustainability strategies can be challenging. Expectations are evolving rapidly, and organisations need to ensure that sustainability initiatives are supported by credible evidence, measurable outcomes and clear governance.

Speakers
Heather Chai is Founder and Principal of Seed & Signal, an advisory practice specialising in modern slavery risk management, sustainability strategy and social impact governance. She works with organisations to strengthen human rights due diligence, supply chain risk management and sustainability strategy in response to evolving regulatory, procurement and stakeholder expectations.
Heather previously served as Director of the Modern Slavery Unit at the University of Sydney, where she led the University’s modern slavery and human rights strategy across procurement, research and operations. She is a former Australian diplomat with experience in international development and public diplomacy across the Indo-Pacific.
Heather is also a UNDP SDG Impact Standards Accredited Trainer, Chair of Results International Australia, and a sessional academic at Macquarie University Business School. Her work focuses on helping organisations move beyond reporting to strengthen governance, capability and impact and accountability in managing modern slavery risk.
Pravin Siriwardena is the Medical Technology Association of Australia’s (MTAA) policy lead for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and procurement. He plays a key role in advocating for harmonised approaches to ESG policy across the MedTech ecosystem and serves as the Australian representative on the Global Medical Technology Alliance (GMTA) Sustainability Committee. Pravin has also presented on the evolving ESG landscape within the medical technology sector at major international forums across Europe and the Asia–Pacific region. He holds a Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Sydney, a Master of Public Health from the University of Melbourne and is currently completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Sydney.
