Patient Story - Kaleena de Voigt

Kaleena de Voigt is a Gold Coast-based operations manager, wife, and mother of two whose life was profoundly impacted by chronic pain following a series of medical complications and surgeries. Nerve damage and peripheral neuropathy left her living with persistent, debilitating pain that affected her ability to work, care for her family, and participate in everyday life.

With the support of a pain specialist, Kaleena explored a range of treatment options over time before spinal cord stimulation (SCS) was recommended as part of her care plan.

Spinal cord stimulation is a medical technology used to help manage certain types of chronic nerve pain. It involves implanting a small device that delivers electrical signals to targeted areas of the spinal cord, with the aim of modifying how pain signals are perceived by the brain.

For Kaleena, spinal cord stimulation has been life-changing. Following implantation, she has substantially reduced her reliance on pain medication, returned to work, and regained the ability to be present and active in her children’s lives. Activities that were once out of reach, from day-to-day routines to outdoor family experiences, are now part of her life again.

Her experience reflects one individual outcome, but underscores the value of MedTech and its potential to deliver meaningful improvements in function, independence, and quality of life for people living with complex, treatment‑resistant nerve pain when used as part of specialist-led care.
