Data and Compliance Training for MedTech SMEs
Safeguarding personal information and protecting the privacy of customers is a priority for many MTAA members and their wider MedTech community. With this in mind, MTAA has partnered with elevenM and their team specialising in privacy, cyber security and data governance to provide an introductory training course to address the concerns that many SMEs share.
This 3-hour session will help SMEs gain an understanding of the requirements for businesses, an outline of the current laws on compliance, the risks of penalties and how to avoid them, and an action plan to prepare for future legislative changes.
This session will be delivered in person by two specialists:

Learning outcomes:
- provide an overview of key concepts and important terms in privacy law
- describe the ‘information life cycle'
- summarise data breach response obligations
- highlight anticipated areas of privacy reform
- cover recent cyber incidents and their impact
- detail cyber actors and key cyber threats with examples from daily life
- be action-orientated, providing attendees with practical tools to manage obligations and reduce risks.
A one-hour networking will follow the session with tea, coffee and nibbles included.

Vruta Chotalia, Senior Consultant, elevenM
Vruta is a cyber security professional specializing in strategy and third-party risk management. With over 8 years’ experience, Vruta has worked with clients in the USA, UK, India and Australia in financial services & the public sector develop and implement cyber security strategies and roadmaps, and undertake cyber maturity assessment, third-party risk management solutioning, vendor assessments and enhancements. Prior to joining elevenM, she was a Manager with KPMG. Vruta holds a Bachelor of Technology (Information Technology) and MBA in IT Business Management from Symbiosis International University. She is certified ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and CSA Cloud Security Knowledge Professional.
Brett Watson, Manager, elevenM
Brett is a privacy professional with extensive regulatory and service delivery experience across state and federal government in Australia. Prior to elevenM, Brett co-managed the privacy program at Service NSW, providing privacy advice and assurance across a range of digital and non-digital service delivery processes. Brett was also the primary privacy advisor at Service NSW for the NSW Government’s digital identity program. Brett has also held senior regulation and compliance roles at NSW Police and at the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, where he was responsible for the OAIC’s privacy assessment program. Brett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Journalism) and a Bachelor of Laws and is CIPM accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
