Dr Milena Georgousakis, Franklin Women
Dr Melina Georgousakis is a medical research scientist, social entrepreneur, and governance-experienced leader with over a decade of experience driving gender equity and workforce capacity building across the Australian health and medical research ecosystem.
She is the Founder and former Director of Franklin Women, a national social enterprise established to create a health and medical research sector where women thrive. Under her leadership. Franklin Women grew from a volunteer initiative to a respected organisation representing over 1000 individual members and 27 partner organisations spanning Medical Research Institutes, universities, health services, and industry.
Her career experience encompasses health research, policy, philanthropy, and program delivery, with a strong focus on systems change, workforce development and health equity. She has served as a judge for the Australian Museum Eureka Awards and the Australian Technologies Competition and was the recipient of the Australian Museum Eureka Prize for Outstanding Mentor of Young Researchers. An inspiring and authentic speaker, Melina has facilitated knowledge sharing and storytelling between individuals across the sector, including her own story on the TedX stage in 2019.
