MTAA Joins Connected Sensors for Health Board

MTAA is excited to announce that our Digital Health Senior Manager, Dr Toby Hodgson, has been appointed to the Board of the Australian Research Council’s Research Hub for Connected Sensors for Health.

The Hub is a collaboration between universities and industry involved in cutting edge research seeking to position Australia at the forefront of connected health by conducting research into biophysical and biochemical sensors, addressing energy solutions sources, and closing the loop on data analytics and privacy and data security.  Its goal is to co-design, verify, and certify sensor technology to transform health care in Australia by enabling new approaches to diagnosis, monitoring, predictive treatment and prevention of disease.

The Hub, funded in 2021 under the Australian Research Council, Industrial Transformation Research Program strives to build a national end-to-end ecosystem for designing, manufacturing, and commercialising clinical-grade sensors predictive analytics tools.

Led by Professor Chun Wang at the University of New South Wales, the Hub aims to lift Australia’s competitiveness by co-designing, verifying, and certifying high-tech, cyber-secure sensors that deliver advanced, effective technologies for individuals.

Dr Hodgson will sit on the Industry Advisory Board, providing expert advice to drive the digital health agenda across the MedTech sector's groups, committees, and organisations.  The appointment of Board Members is effective from 1 January 2023. In addition, MTAA’s Clinical Translation and Commercialisation Medtech Program Manager, Stuart Anderson, will be providing support with industry engagement initiatives.

The Research Hub official launch is Thursday, 2 February 2023. MTAA looks forward to a productive collaboration to advance treatments in human health.
