MTAA Welcome Liz Carnabuci as New Board Chair
The Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Liz Carnabuci as the new Chair of the MTAA Board, succeeding Sue Martin, who steps down following six years of exceptional service, five of those as Chair and Vice-Chair.
Liz brings a wealth of experience to the role as a seasoned commercial leader with over 25 years in the healthcare industry. Currently, Liz is the Vice President of Enterprise Accounts & Services, Japan and ANZ, and Vice President, Diabetes APAC and Greater China, at Medtronic. Previously, Liz has held key leadership roles across Asia-Pacific, including Vice President and General Manager positions at Becton Dickinson and CareFusion and various commercial leadership roles at Baxter Healthcare.
Liz was elected Chair of the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) in December 2022 and became Vice Chair of the Board in November 2023. She assumed the role of Chair in November 2024, following her election at the MTAA 2024 Annual General Meeting.
As a long-standing MTAA Board member, Liz has championed advocacy initiatives such as MedTech on the Hill, amplifying the industry’s voice to policymakers and ensuring patient needs remain central to discussions.
“I am truly honoured to take on this leadership role as Chair of MTAA’s Board and to build on the incredible legacy Sue Martin leaves behind. Sue has been an amazing chair, providing leadership and governance during a challenging time. Her dedication and guidance have been invaluable, and I’m truly thankful for all her contributions. As I take the reins, I look forward to building on the great work and driving the industry forward.” Ms Carnabuci said.
“In collaboration with Ian Burgess and the MTAA Board, my focus will be on creating stronger partnerships within the ecosystem. Together, we’ll work to advance policies that highlight the value of medical technology in Australia, ensuring our healthcare model remains robust, sustainable, and future-focused.”
MTAA CEO Ian Burgess expressed his gratitude to Sue Martin for her outstanding contributions and welcomed Liz Carnabuci to her new role as Chair.
“I am thrilled to welcome Liz as our new Chair. With her extensive experience, deep industry knowledge, and passion for advancing healthcare, I am confident Liz will guide MTAA into an exciting new chapter.
