Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What types of activities fall under the MTAA professional development program?
There are a range of activities that can be attended.  These included course modules, MedTech Forums, MedTech Seminars, Webytes, E-briefings and industry special interest events. For some training events, pre-requisite modules or equivalent industry experience is recommended.

Q2. How do I register and pay to attend an activity?
All MTAA activities must be registered to and paid for via the online registration system, unless otherwise stated. All course modules are listed in the Training Catalogue on the MTAA website.

To register for a module you will need a My MTAA Account. This is your online portal that gives you access to a range of information, including your training history by clicking My Certifications. Access your online learning and past Certificates of Participation by clicking the award icon.

Once you have paid online to attend training, an invoice will appear on screen. Please print this screen for later reference as evidence of your payment. Standard credit card fees apply. You can also access past invoices by clicking the Order History tab on the right hand side of your portal view.

Q3. Can I cancel my attendance if I am unable to attend?
Cancellations for all face-to-face training and events will be accepted up to five working days prior to the event and are subject to a cancellation fee of $50. Attendees from the same organisation may be substituted up to two working days prior to the event if MTAA is advised and agrees in writing. No refunds are issued for cancellations after this time. Please note, cancellations where payments were made online by credit card will be refunded less credit card fee(s).

If a cancellation is made less than five days prior to an event, without prior notice or substitution, there will be no refund. Should MTAA cancel an event, a full refund will be made.

Please ensure that you always refer to the individual cancellation policy prior to registering. To make a cancellation or swap and attendee, please contact reception by P: (+612) 9900 0650 or E: pd@mtaa.org.au

Q4. Do I receive proof of participation at a course module?
For every module you complete, MTAA will issue a Certificate of Participation.  This is available by logging on to your My MTAA Account on the MTAA website the next business day following the training and clicking the award icon, excluding module 1.5 Introduction to Operating Theatre Protocols that may take up to a week pending the review of assessments.

Q5. Are meals included?
Morning tea is provided for half-day sessions. For a full day session morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea is provided.

Refreshments are provided 15 minutes before the commencement of the event. Special dietary requirements should be requested at the time of registration.

Q6. How do I get to the training site?
Public transport is regularly available in each capital city. Please check with your local public transport provider.  Where possible, site maps are emailed to participants with programs prior to the training.

Q7. Where can I stay near the venue?
It is the responsibility of each participant to coordinate their own accommodation requirements.  Please check the registration page in the Training Calendar for the suburb where the training is being held, in case you are seeking nearby accommodation.

  • Brisbane: Please view the Brisbane Tourist Information website www.queenslandholidays.com.au for a range of accommodation options.
  • Melbourne: The Visit Melbourne website www.visitmelbourne.com offers a range of accommodation options across the city.
  • Sydney: Training in Sydney is usually conducted at the MTAA office in North Sydney.  Please view the Visit NSW website www.visitnsw.com for a range of accommodation options.

Q8. What is required of me on the day?
Please arrive at the venue 15 minutes prior to the training start time. If you are running late, please contact MTAA on P: (+612) 9900 0650.

Upon arrival, please ensure you sign in as a record of your attendance. This will ensure you receive a Certificate of Participation following the training.

Each participant is expected to participate in activities as outlined by the presenter. Participants are also encouraged to complete a session feedback form before departing the event. This assists MTAA to ensure learner needs are being appropriately met.

Q9. What should I wear on the day?
Please wear comfortable business attire on the day. If you are attending module 1.5 Introduction to Operating Theatre Protocols, please wear comfortable protective footwear that is appropriate for entering the perioperative environment. You will be required to change into perioperative attire before entering the operating theatre.

Q10. How do I access My MTAA Account?
Your My MTAA Account is accessible from the contact page on the MTAA website. Your personal login details are required.  Once you have logged on, tabs will appear on the right-hand side of the page. Please refer to the Quick Start Guide on the MTAA website for further details.
